In the short span of four decades, triathlon has exploded over mainstream culture, reminiscent of the running boom of the late 1970s. Still, while there are dozens of races every weekend on the East and West coasts for triathletes to choose from, athletes from the triathlon mecca of Boulder-Denver can count their racing opportunities on two hands. In addition, this triathlon boom has resulted in skyrocketing race entry fees, from approximately $40 for sprint races in the mid-1990s to nearly $100 for similar races today.
Pro triathlete Lance Panigutti and his brother, Tony, want to rapidly change the Colorado racing landscape in 2008. Their company Without Limits Productions will be launching three sprint triathlons in Longmont, Colorado, aimed at both the beginner athlete and the experienced racer looking for quality local events. The series consists of the Summer Open May 18, Oktoberfest Sprint October 6 and Boulder Tri Babes Women's Tri September 21, as well as a Wednesday-night AQUAMAN swim series.
Without Limits believes triathlon was created for the masses — a lifestyle sport centered on healthy, holistic living. Therefore, a high entry fee should not be a barrier to participation. Without Limits Productions’ motto is “Experience the Lifestyle,” as the company, with the help of its partnering sponsors, focuses on providing long-term benefits to all athletes for an affordable entry fee.
For example, all participants will be able to purchase Peaceful Mountain body-care products at a highly discounted rate for life. Other partners such as Colorado Multisport and Fleet Feet Sports will provide benefits and coupons with no expiration dates for the athletes’ goodie bags.
"We want our competitors to feel like they are sponsored directly by our partners to create a connection that will help them prosper in their new sport," states Lance Panigutti.
